Critical infrastructure forms the backbone of our economy, society, and national security. Their necessary interconnection, and our increasingly tense geopolitical climate sets a challenging stage for their future. Recognising this, Australia’s Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI) and accompanying SoNS and ECSO‘s place clear obligations on ‘responsible entities’ (critical asset owners and operators) to appropriately protect these essential systems, and imposes civil sanctions for certain non-conformances.
